I have tired many many many bread recipes and this one is my favorite! Although, I think all the other recipes had more to do with me than the actual recipe. I had a good friend show me how to make her rolls one day and I learned alot about making bread from her. Some of the things I learned: Keep your yeast in the freezer, it will last forever. And then use hot water instead of lukewarm water (because the yeast just came out of the freezer.) Never add as much flour as the recipe calls for. Start with about a cup less, and add little bits at a time, until the dough starts pulling away from the sides of the bowl. (The dough should be very soft and a little sticky if you like light and fluffy rolls.) Just a few tricks that my friend shared with me that I shared with you. Now on to the recipe.
Bread/Rolls Recipe:
2 tbls. oil
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp. salt
3 cups lukewarm water
3 pkg. yeast (2 1/4 tsp. equals one packet of yeast)
2 eggs
8 cups flour
Mix together in large bowl the oil, sugar, water, and salt, then add yeast and mix. Let set for 5 minutes, then add eggs (beaten). Add flour. Grease bowl transfer dough and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Knead: put in pans, or roll out and shape rolls. Let rise again until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. (If making rolls bake for 20 min, or until golden brown)
This is what your rolls should look like after they have started to rise.
And this is what they look like after they come out of the oven. ENJOY!
