I am still laughing at this picture, and I took it 4 days ago! We went to the farm to see K’boo’s horses. My little guy loved seeing all the animals. Well, at least from afar!! I got my camera out to take a cute picture of him standing at the gate looking at the steers, and all of a sudden they noticed him, and started heading toward him!!! He was soooo scared! He came running, saying”booky mamma, booky’ which is Spooky, which is what he says when he’s scared!! What a cutie!! hahaha!!

For those interested in the picture coloring, I used Pioneer Woman’s free action set “Soft & Faded”, and tweaked it a bit. I Changed the opacity of the Dark Layer to 0, and the De-Coloring layer to about 54!

Boo!

This picture is a REAL BLACK WIDOW! SICK!!! At my house! SICKER!! We smashed it right after this picture was taken, and the bug guy came the next day! Did you know that the poison form a black widow is still poisonous even when it’s dead? Yucky huh, so if you smash it, squirt it down with something, just in case you’re walking around barefoot, which my kids ALWAYS do!!

Oh, and one more pic for the last day of October… Our family pumpkins! We had so much fun carving them. And yep, see the blender thing…? It’s works great. I saw it on the Today show, and it’s great! It loosens up all the gunk.

I love this picture. I wish I could dress my kids in these exact outfits, and take their picture at this same spot! It would be kinda funny though since I have 3 BOYS, and 1 little girly! (total opposite!) But their colors worked perfectly with this background, and the solar flare… I love it! I’ve been testing out different shots lately with the sun in it, and I really like how this one turned out! And it just happens to match the pink and purple shirts!

Next time your out in the late afternoon, try getting solar flare… just have the sun peeking through a tree or window, or really anything. It can make some really fun effects. But I’m learning slowly how to capture it just right. Right now, it’s just trial and error!

Park City, Utah

Have you been there? It is such a fun little town. The annual Sundance Film Festival is held there every year. The 2002 Winter Olympics held events there. It’s a great place to take the kids, or just a romantic getaway. The alpine slide is a blast! The Olympic park is a fun place to go as well. They have some of the pros still there doing shows. And they are awesome! Definitely check that out as well if/WHEN you go! In the summer…bike, hike, golf, run, … winter..ski/snowboard galore! This picture is of the little main street! I love it. There are tons of really cute little specialty shops, beautiful art galleries, and scrumptious restaurants. If you’ve been there, go back, if you haven’t, put it on your traveling to do list!

Traveling lens… which one?

I used to find that when I would travel, I would end up taking the wrong lens with me. Always so worried, if I don’t have my zoom, I would miss it. If I just had my 50, I’d regret it. But who wants to carry around a bunch of lenses? Well, my advice would be to carry with you the 24-70 2.8. Nikkor of course makes a beautiful one. But a much more cost effective one made by Tamron 28-75 will do the work too! (in my opinion, although there is much debate over the quality and sharpness!)

This picture is in New York (if you can’t tell!) I still really like it, but I felt like my 80-200 lens was a little big to have in such crowded city. Maybe that lens would be better put to use in Yellowstone, when you’re trying to see further away…

Gotta have it!

I have people ask how I get such crisp, bright eyes. That’s how. It’s an awesome, very inexpensive lens, with an aperture of either 1.8 or 1.4. I have both. I like the 1.4 a tad better, but to the naked eye, probably not much of a difference. (the 1.8 is Nikon, and the 1.4 is a Pentax)

Word Picture Art - Love it!

I love these Word Picture art Frames. I think they are so creative and different. I have seen them around but they are pretty pricey. I found an awesome site to show you how to DIY Here. I totally want to make one myself now! It has got me trying to see letters in different objects and things. I just can’t decide what I want to have it spell out. Family, Our last name, Kitchen (sounds weird but it would be cute with utensils and spices and such). I think something girly for my girls room in bright colors would be cute too, maybe princess, or sisters. I don’t know, but I am on the look out for letters.

I WANT THIS CAMERA! This is the first Digital SLR camera including ‘movie mode’. So basically a camcorder in it, but better than a camcorder. And the opportunity to switch out your lenses and make the movie so unique… LOVE IT!
