It is the biggest snow(woman) on record. It sets a record in the Guinness Book of Records. To get an idea of scale, Olympia is about 30 feet shorter than the Statue of Liberty (without the base). Her arms consist of 27-foot-tall evergreens.
Her “carrot” nose, painted by schoolchildren, is 8 feet long. Her eyes are made from giant wreaths.
Olympia’s eyelashes are made from skis and her bright red lips are painted tires.

Sometimes I wonder how/why I didn’t think of that! These helmets are so cute! It’s so hard to get my kids to wear helmets when I don’t even like to wear them! But I could so wear these! They’re actually just covers! So you could get the helmet, and then all of the different covers. As of right now they are not available in the U.S., but I think they’re coming soon. Keep checking Yakkay for more info, and the other super cute styles!

Now they just need to make cute little baseball cap ones for little guys!

Roasting Marshmallows 101

1-
Get a clean, long-handled stick or barbecue fork suitable for spearing marshmallows. I got great ones seen in image at Wal-Mart for I think $2.99.
2-
Push one or two marshmallows onto the end of the stick or barbecue fork.
3-
Hold the marshmallow over the fire or coals, positioning it so the marshmallow is suspended 1 to 3 inches above the heat source.
4-
Rotate until marshmallow is a light golden brown.
5-
Remove the marshmallow from the fire, keeping in mind that metal utensils get super hot on the end nearest the fire - handle with care.
6-
When cooled, slide off.
7-
Eat.
8-
Make sure you get it all in there!

Do you remember back in the day when “tree hugger” was a categorization of people? Maybe the more “hippyish”?? Well, maybe it still is, I don’t know, but sometimes lately it (being a tree hugger) seems kind of the trendy thing. Well, I must admit, I want to be more of a “tree hugger“. Which I think is basically been changed into the word…GREEN. Not only saving our planet, but our children. All the toxins and non green things in our homes harming them as well.
Did you know that an average tree will absorb more than 650 pounds of carbon dioxide (co2) over its lifetime?… That is equal to the amount produced by driving about 740 miles.
When you purchase this cute sticker from Gift of Green, one native tree is planted in an ecosystem restoration project right here in the U.S.

Have you been there? It is such a fun little town. The annual Sundance Film Festival is held there every year. The 2002 Winter Olympics held events there. It’s a great place to take the kids, or just a romantic getaway. The alpine slide is a blast! The Olympic park is a fun place to go as well. They have some of the pros still there doing shows. And they are awesome! Definitely check that out as well if/WHEN you go! In the summer…bike, hike, golf, run, … winter..ski/snowboard galore! This picture is of the little main street! I love it. There are tons of really cute little specialty shops, beautiful art galleries, and scrumptious restaurants. If you’ve been there, go back, if you haven’t, put it on your traveling to do list!

Traveling lens… which one?

I used to find that when I would travel, I would end up taking the wrong lens with me. Always so worried, if I don’t have my zoom, I would miss it. If I just had my 50, I’d regret it. But who wants to carry around a bunch of lenses? Well, my advice would be to carry with you the 24-70 2.8. Nikkor of course makes a beautiful one. But a much more cost effective one made by Tamron 28-75 will do the work too! (in my opinion, although there is much debate over the quality and sharpness!)

This picture is in New York (if you can’t tell!) I still really like it, but I felt like my 80-200 lens was a little big to have in such crowded city. Maybe that lens would be better put to use in Yellowstone, when you’re trying to see further away…

So we camp a lot! And apparently my sweet old tennis shoes are “NOT CAMPING SHOES” (according to my husband!) He came home the other day with these “HIKING/CAMPING/HUNTING” shoes (BOOTS!) And I must say that I REALLY REALLY LIKE THEM! They are comfortable, warm, dry, and so fashionable!! So if any of you spend time in the mountains, try these out! You won’t be sorry!
